Carbquik Low Carb Bread

Carbquik Variation

Carbquik was referred to me by a good friend mine who is helping me improve my physique.  As part of my routine, I need to cut down on my carbs, and oh how I love my bread, potatoes, pasta and cheese.  In part, I did give up my favorite bread to try Carbquik.

So…What is so great about Carbquik?  90 Calories, Fat 6 grams, Protein 6 grams and Net Carbs 2!  Best of all it cooks in the microwave in 1 minute.   Carbquik Demo is a great way to see the basic ingredients and how to prepare this great bread.

Now, I have made some variations to the ingredients.  Here are the adjustments:

  • Half and Half replaced with Skin Milk
  • Between 1/4 – 1/2 tspn of Ground Flaxseed
  • 1/2 tspn of Wheat Germ
  • 1/2 tspn of crushed unsalted, oven roasted Almonds
  • Couple shakes of Cinnamon and Nutmeg
  • I also played with the amount of baking powder, less than what is suggested in the video.

Pop it in the microwave and there you have it…Bread!  Some other combinations you could try that were equally tasteful:

  • Garlic Powder
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Basil
  • Low Fat Parmesan Cheese
  • Low Fat Cheddar Cheese

I used very small quantities so that I would not mess, too much, with the consistency of all the ingredients mixed together.  The best thing I can recommend is to pick up a bread making cookbook or search the web and check out the ingredients being used and give it a try.  After two weeks of playing with Carbquik….I have some staple bread variations that have been excellent for sandwiches and toast!

Let the baking begin!
