4 Must Have Kitchen Appliances l Food Fitness Dogs

I love to cook. I love to cook for friends, events, and of course meals for myself. The size of my meals could feed a small army, but that’s ok because what I prepare is really good. Something else I love equally, my kitchen tools. I don’t really call them gadgets because they have been kitchen staples for such a long-time. The kitchen tools you own can help you out of a jam or get you into one. Here are my favorite kitchen tools.

Vitamix

I honestly can not say enough about this little powerhouse of a multipurpose machine. Some of my favorite things to do is prepare my own salad dressings, condiments, marinara sauce, soups, ice cream, nut butters, and smoothies. Perfect for juicing.  I also love to chop and puree things up like vegetables, cauliflower for mashed potatoes, and make ground meat from flank steak.

A few more things the Vitamix can do that I have not tried… mixed drinks, salsa, cocktails, and dessert.

I purchased mine from QVC and as a bonus it came with a very thick, worthwhile cookbook along with some other accessories.  The cookbook has a section for Appetizers, Soups, Main Dishes, Sides, Desserts, Drinks, and much more.  Definitely worth the value.  Now you can also purchase this at Vitamix or do your own search for this multipurpose kitchen tool to find the best deal for you.

Yes, a high ticket price. It does come with a lifetime guarantee.  While I have had mine for 3 years or so, I have no complaints.

Whatever you choose to prepare… it’s just minutes from raw ingredients to something presentable. A true kitchen time saver.

Electric Pressure Cooker

Have you ever come home from work late or an event with nothing to cook immediately? Had unexpected visitors with only frozen food available to offer? This is truly another time saver! Are you tight on kitchen space? This is small and can cook a whole lot. You can cook foods straight from the freezer, no thawing necessary. Some of my favorites are Chicken Soup, Chicken, Vegetable Lasagna, Chili, Wet Dog Food, Hummus and Macaroni and Cheese.

I have a funny story to share, this is what sold me to give this a try. I do not know of anyone who does not like ribs, pork or beef. I have a list of favorite foods and it’s no surprise that has made the list. I had been accustomed to ordering Corky’s Ribs and kept them stocked in the freezer to have whenever I wanted. To me, buying, prepping, and slow cooking store bought ribs seemed like to much work for me. Much too long of a wait to enjoy ribs. The pressure cooker prepares this in about 15 minutes!

I had seen a presentation on the Pressure Cooker. I envisioned the older models that you would sit on the stove top, but this was different.  I heard the word “electric” and that caught my attention. “Cooks food fast”. I like that. “Cooks from frozen”. I like that too. “Let me show you what you can do”. I had to take a seat to see for myself what this thing can do. The presentation of ribs came on and it was over, I had to have one. Now, I marinate ribs, vacuum seal them, and freeze them. Whenever I want ribs, I have them in 15 minutes, straight out of the freezer! I love this electric cooker. I have gone on tour with it showing family and friends how easy and quick it is to make great food fast! What I have started doing is cooking food, manually releasing the pressure so that I can finish it off under the broiler. That’s another great thing about it, the top will only open when the pressure has been released; by itself or manually. You must get one of these. It is the best kitchen tool to cook good food fast.

Slow Cooker

The Crock Pot a.k.a. Slow Cooker is estimated to have been developed in the 50’s, so it has been around for a very long time.  Unless you are completely new to the kitchen, you have heard of this appliance.

I have used this to finish off Eggplant Parmesan. I’ve used this to prepare all ready cooked meatballs that I have frozen for a meal.  All kinds of cobblers are from scratch are good.  You set up what you are going to cook, set it the temperature, and forget it until it is time to eat.  I typically make my special Spinach Artichoke Dip and take it to parties.  It stays warm and delicious for as long as it lasts.  Clean up is a breeze. I will usually soak the removable dish and give it a wash.

You can go about your day, while the food is cooking. The best thing… you do not have to monitor the cooking process. You can find one of these in most retail stores.

George Foreman Grill

I really, really love my George Foreman Grill.  All the interchangeable plates are a great addition from my first grill.  I donated the old one and upgraded to a new and improved grill.  Great for indoor grilling, there is a waffle maker attachment, muffin cups, and a bake pan.

I do not particularly like grilling when it is cold outside.  For some, it doesn’t matter what the weather is like.  If they want to grill they will.  I prefer to grill when the temps are warm and in the winter time it’s indoors, unless the weather is 60+ degrees outside.  The most obvious use is to grill burgers. I have used this to grill vegetables, fish, shrimp, steaks and pork chops.  I have used the waffle maker with excellent results.  I use the muffin cups for breakfast egg muffins. The bake pan is good for omelets.

I love this because it is a multipurpose kitchen tool. This item can be found on the George Foreman website.  I would also do a little extra research because you may be able to find this cheaper.

There you have it.  All of these tools can be used to create multiple types of meals and do not require a lot of space.  These appliances are great for any first time cook or someone with a small kitchen.  I don’t think you will find any of these on a list of bridal gifts. It is their loss, because they are time savers.  Even if you do not know how to cook, you will be a star with any of these
